There is always something happening in Las Vegas. The hard part is deciding what is actually worth getting out of the house for.
That’s what The Weekend Pulse is about.
Each Friday, we’ll pick a handful of places, events and experiences that caught our attention. Some will be right here in the West Valley. Occasionally, something will be worth the drive across town. And sometimes the best recommendation might simply be a beautiful place to slow down for an afternoon.
This weekend, you can start with a French pastry, discover a working farm filled with rescued animals, wander through local art studios, spend an afternoon by the lake or head across the valley for three days of food and fun.
Here are five ways to spend your weekend.
FIRST STOP SATURDAY

There are worse ways to begin a Saturday than with good coffee and a French pastry.
Burgundy Bakery & Café has become one of our favorite little discoveries in the West Valley, and if you haven’t stopped in yet, this weekend might be a good excuse.
Grab a coffee, look over the pastry case and give yourself a few minutes to actually sit down and enjoy Saturday morning before deciding where the rest of the day takes you.

DISCOVER
The Las Vegas Farm
Yes, there really is a farm in Las Vegas.
Tucked away on Grand Teton Drive is The Las Vegas Farm, where visitors can spend the weekend meeting rescued animals and browsing a farmers market.
The sanctuary is home to rescued cows, goats, pigs, sheep, horses, mules, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, ducks, tortoises, peacocks and more.
The weekend farmers market offers seasonal fruits and vegetables, raw honey, eggs and baked goods, with proceeds helping support the animals.
It’s the kind of place that makes you forget, at least for a little while, that you’re still in Las Vegas.
And we have a feeling there may be a much bigger story here. West Valley Pulse plans to pay them a visit.

The Arts Factory
How many times have you driven through Las Vegas without realizing what was happening behind a particular door?
The Arts Factory is one of those places worth opening the door to.
Located in the Las Vegas Arts District, the Arts Factory is home to more than 30 artists and art galleries, along with photographers, retail and 18Bin Bar & Restaurant.
You don’t need an agenda. Wander around. Look at some art. Step into a studio. Talk to somebody.
You may discover an artist whose work you love, and we may just discover somebody whose story belongs in West Valley Pulse.

SLOW DOWN
Sunset Park
Not everything on your weekend calendar needs reservations, admission or a schedule.
Sometimes you just need a park.
With beautiful weather calling, Sunset Park is an easy place to spend a few hours outside. Pack a picnic, take a walk around the lake, bring the dog, try the disc golf course or simply find a comfortable spot and enjoy the afternoon.
Las Vegas gives us plenty of reasons to hurry.
Here’s one reason not to.

Great American Foodie Fest
For our final pick, we’re leaving the West Valley.
The Great American Foodie Fest takes over the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson this weekend with food vendors, carnival attractions and entertainment.
This is the big, loud, hungry option on our list.
Come for something you probably shouldn’t eat, stay for the carnival atmosphere and make an afternoon or evening of it.
