Looking for things to do in Las Vegas this weekend? we’ve found a little bit of everything for Oct. 16–18, from books and fall nights to mammoths and vintage treasures.
Books, Beer, Fall Nights, Mammoths & a Las Vegas Treasure Hunt
Spend Saturday with books in the Arts District, meet authors at the Las Vegas Book Festival, then head west for pumpkins, music and a night at UnCommons.
On Sunday, the choice is wonderfully simple: mammoths or treasure hunting. Here are a few places worth putting on your weekend list.

📚 SATURDAY | BOOKS, COFFEE & MAYBE A BEER
The Book & The Bean × CraftHaus Brewery
197 E. California St., Suite 130 | Arts District
Saturday | 8 AM–11 PM
Last weekend, we introduced you to the women behind one of the Arts District’s newest collaborations. This weekend is a perfect excuse to stop in.
The Book & The Bean has made its home inside CraftHaus Brewery, bringing books, coffee and beer together under one roof.
Start Saturday with coffee and browse the shelves before heading to the Las Vegas Book Festival. Or do it in reverse and come back afterward, when coffee can turn into a CraftHaus beer.
West Valley Pulse tip: Make this your starting point or your final stop. Either way, you’re already in the Arts District.

📖 SATURDAY | LAS VEGAS BOOK FESTIVAL
Historic Fifth Street School
Saturday, October 17 | 10 AM–5 PM
401 S. Fourth St. | Downtown Las Vegas
Free
If you’re going to have a bookish Saturday, you might as well go all in.
The Las Vegas Book Festival returns with authors, readings, conversations, book signings, workshops, independent vendors and plenty for readers of all ages.
It’s free, it’s one of Nevada’s largest literary events, and it’s an easy pairing with a morning coffee or an afternoon beer in the Arts District.

🎃 SATURDAY NIGHT | FALL AT UNCOMMONS
UnCommon Harvest
Saturday, October 17 | 6–10 PM
When the books close, head west.
UnCommon Harvest brings pumpkins, local vendors, seasonal activities, food, drinks and live music to UnCommons Saturday night.
👻 Monster Mash Dance Party
7–9 PM | Etho Park
For families, the evening includes a kid-friendly DJ, games and more Halloween fun. Costumes are definitely welcome.
Come with the kids, bring a date or just wander around and enjoy a fall evening outside.
🥩 MAKE A NIGHT OF IT
Already at UnCommons? Turn it into dinner.
Rare Society gives you an easy excuse to dress things up a little with steak, cocktails and an old-school steakhouse atmosphere.
Dinner first and Harvest afterward, or Harvest first and dinner later. Either works.

☀️ SUNDAY | PICK YOUR ADVENTURE
If you’re looking for more things to do in Las Vegas this weekend, Sunday offers a wonderfully simple choice:
Mammoths or treasure hunting?
🦣 GET OUTSIDE | ICE AGE FOSSILS STATE PARK
Sunday | 8 AM–4:30 PM
8660 N. Decatur Blvd. | North Las Vegas
Admission: $3 | Children 12 and under free
Grab some coffee and your walking shoes and head north.
Thousands of years before Las Vegas looked anything like it does today, mammoths, ancient bison and camels roamed this part of the Valley.
Ice Age Fossils State Park lets you explore that history through desert trails, fossil exhibits and its visitor center.
It’s inexpensive, it’s outdoors and it’s a side of Las Vegas many locals still haven’t seen.

STAY IN TOWN | FANTASTIC VINTAGE MARKET
Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet
Sunday | 10 AM–6 PM
1717 S. Decatur Blvd. | Las Vegas
If hiking boots aren’t calling your name, go treasure hunting instead.
Fantastic’s monthly Vintage Market is back this weekend with antiques, collectibles, vintage finds, home décor and the sort of things you didn’t know you needed until you found them.
Wander. Dig. Look around.
You never know what you’ll bring home.
And yes, it’s air-conditioned.

ONE WEEKEND. TWO VERY DIFFERENT LAS VEGAS DAYS.
Start Saturday with books and coffee. Meet an author. Have a beer. Spend Saturday night under the lights at UnCommons.
Then wake up Sunday and decide:
Mammoths or vintage treasures?
However you spend it, there are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas this weekend beyond the Strip.
Either way, get out and discover a little more of the city we call home.
What did we miss?
